My practice intertwines my life experiences and personal history within a sculptural approach that merges practical knowledge with creative inquiry. Having spent most of my adult life in a trade-based profession, I enjoy working with my hands and tools. My identity as a tradesperson and the decline of my Christian faith deeply informs my sculptural investigations.
I engage in experimentation, using materials such as core-drilled sandstone, forged steel components, and refined timber support structures. I navigate diverse and competing ideas through thoughtful formal decision-making while embracing open-ended questions. The element of chance in my work allows me to respond to material challenges with formal solutions. Rather than aligning my practice with a singular theory, process, or art movement, my work embodies multiplicity—seeking ways for various truths to coexist within my artworks and myself.
